Here is a list of all game species available at Mayflower Wildlife Safaris. From here you can request pricing and availability of the species, with regard to your hunting requirements.
Please read the current terms and conditions that are available at the bottom of this page. There are also downloadable pricelists in US Dollars and Euros available.
Hunters / Non-hunters at Mayflower

Big Game Specials for the 2010 season
We also do big game hunts in concession areas in Botswana and can tailor make a safari for each individual. In the 2010 season we can offer good deals on Elephant and Crocodile for futher details please feel free to contact us. Big game must be booked in advance, as we have a limited quota.

Available Game Species
Duiker
The species inhabits mountain and coastal forests and thickets; it also occurs in riverine forests

Steenbok
The species prefers open grasslands with bush and shrubs, but also occurs in cultivated areas. It is absent from dense vegetation.

Blue Wildebeest
Found mainly in short-grass savanna; the species is also found in open woodland and bushland. Water bound.

Red Hartebeest
Found in semi-desert savanna. May occur in open woodland but avoids dense woodland. Prefers open plains such as grassplains, floodplains, grassveld, vleis and strips of grass around pans. Independant of water.

Tsessebe
Prefers open areas on the edge of grass plains with woodland. Medium to tall grass, shade and water are important requirements.

Waterbuck
As its name would indicate, the waterbuck inhabits areas that are close to water in savanna grasslands, gallery forests and riverine woodlands south of the Sahara.

Greater Kudu
Preferred habitat includes mixed scrub woodland, acacia and bush on lowlands, hills and mountains. Nearby supply of water.

Cape Eland
Elands live in both steppe and sparse forests. They are also found in semidesert areas and at elevations up to 14400 ft. During the heat of the day, they are often found in shaded areas.

Gemsbok (Oryx)
The species primarily occurs in open grassy plains and dry steppe, but also in light woodlands and desert areas.

Zebra (Burchell)
Burchell's zebra exists from southern Botswana into the Orange Free State of South Africa .

Impala
The species prefers edges between grassland and denser woodland, notably Acacia, it does not perform well in low nutrient status areas such as the Brachystegia woodland

Bushbuck
Occurring from as far west as southern Mauritania and Senegal, east across the Sahel to Ethiopia and Somalia and south in all countries to South Africa. Bushbuck are singularly unusual in their ubiquity.

Bushpig
This species lives in forests and other habitat types with dense vegetation. It is water bound.

Warthog
This species lives in savanna grasslands and open woodlands; it is less associated with more densely vegetated habitat types.

Chacma baboon
The major requirements for any habitat seems to be water sources and safe sleeping places in either tall trees or on cliff faces.

Vervet monkey
Their preferred habitat is acacia woodland along streams, rivers and lakes. They are diurnal, sleeping and eating in trees from which they seldom venture.

Caracal
The species occurs in drier savanna and woodland regions, with a preference for the Acacia and Commiphora woodlands, thickets and Karoo scrubs.

Jackal
The black backed jackals dens are often disused aardvark burrows or crevices in rocks. Black-backed Jackals are mainly Diurnal (active during the day), but are also active at night.

Ostrich
They live in the African Savana, in the more grassy areas with limited access to shade and bare areas for their use of sand.

Crocodile
Rivers and lakes, capable of remaining in suspension just below the surface of the water, with only the tip of its nostrils and the part of the head containing the eyes, visible.

Klipspringer
The species is confined to rocky outcrops in mountains, hills and along rivers.

Sable
Sable antelope inhabit dry open woodlands and medium tall grass savannas. They generally avoid dense woodlands and short grass savannas.

Elephant
Found in areas ranging from the arid Kaokoland to dense forest and savanna or forest with a high rainfall. Clear drinking water, other permanent water, shade and enough food (grass and leaves, branches) are essential.

White Rhino
The bull is heavier than the cow. Habitat is grass plains with open marshes and enough water. Important requirements include areas with short grass, water for drinking and bathing, thickets for shelter and fairly flat terrain.

Leopard
The species can live in a variety of environments, from wet forests to arid lands, through woodland, bush savannas and grasslands. It appears to be absent only from true desert.

Lion
Found in a wide variety of environments, the species appears to be absent only from rain forest and the interior of the Sahara desert.

Buffalo
They live close to water. In general buffaloes are found throughout the northern and southern savanna as well as the lowland rain forest.

Hippopotamus
The species’ daytime habitat is represented by a wide range of water bodies, including muddy wallows. For feeding it requires grasslands and will move several kilometres away from water every night to reach grazing areas.

Terms and conditions
- Safaris must be booked in advance in order to make sure that the necessary requirements and arrangements are in place.
- 50% deposit is required to secure availability for your booking.
- Cash or traveller's Cheques are accepted. Prices are quoted in US Dollars and / or Euros
- You will receive our banking / payment details once we have received your writen order.
- Only paid for safaris will be a guarantee of current pricing / fees.
- Trophy fees or charges will be due on any animal taken or wounded.
- If the hunting safari is cancelled, full cancellation fees will be due and payable.
